New Works Series: Toni Seger Staged Reading and Discussion

April 28th, 7pm (6:30pm for cocktails) at .NO Gallery, 251 East Houston Street (between Norfolk & Suffolk), New York, NY

Following up from our standing-room-only New Works night last spring, and coming to yet another art gallery near you is our second Staged Reading event, filled with good writing and acting. This time we feature Toni Seger. Seger is a novelist and the author of The Telefax Trilogy, a satiric series about our overly mechanized lives available at Amazon.

Surrounded by the work of the .NO Gallery's last installment of the North Star Series, New Yorkers have one last chance to catch this comtemporary Norwegian art installation.  The striking red pieces in this intimate spot provide a stimulating background for Seger's cutting, abstract shorts on society--and an intense environment for her commanding realism piece about a family dealing with a common tragedy.

Seger has a Bachelors in Theatre from Ithaca College (BFA ‘69) and a Masters in Educational Administration from Harvard University (EdM ‘74). She has produced, directed and acted in original plays for stage and television and is an award winning film maker with endorsements from Maine Public Broadcasting. Curious Frog will be featuring 3 of Seger's shorts: Yawn, Storyline, and Climbing, and a reading of her play Rope of Sands, in which three family members confront a cycle of a non-communication in the hopes of recovering from tragedy. The evening will include music, wine and refreshments, and a Q&A with Ms. Seger.

.NO is a non profit art gallery with the mission to empower artists by providing them with an exhibition space for their work. An alternative to more traditional venues, such as for-profit galleries, .NO's goal is to assist talented artists in obtaining more visibility and exposure. Additionally, .NO is committed to serve meritable artists by providing opportunities for sharing their experiences through artist talks, lectures and collaborative projects with the local community. Our goal for 2011 also includes implementing our funding base, so that we can open our space to a broader and multiethnic population of artists.
